08.04.04 - I Promise Myself
AFFIRM:
I shall keep the promise that I have made to myself.
I shall never again tell myself that I am poor, sick, weak,
nor unhappy.
I shall not lie to myself any more, but shall daily speak the
truth to my inner Soul, telling It that It is wonderful and
marvelous; that It is One with the Great Cause of all Life,
Truth, Power and Action.
I shall whisper these things into my Soul until it breaks
forth into songs of joy with the realization of Its Limitless Possibilities.
Yes, I shall assure my Soul.

- Loose The Consciousness
From
Loose the Consciousness, p 339:
"...A certain time should
be taken each day for the enlargement of consciousness. This
is done by reminding our imagination that the field with which
it deals is Limitless, that Mind is the Creator and Sustainer,
that Mind is Infinite, ever available, and always responsive
to us.
There should never be any sense of finality in our self-discovery.
No matter how much good we experience today, we should expect
more tomorrow. Expectancy always needs progress; anticipation
of better yet to come helps to dissolve the overload of burdens
which we now carry with us.
We must learn to loose our consciousness. Nothing is too good
to be true. The Kingdom of Harmony is already an ever-present
Reality, but as far as we are concerned It waits to be perceived,
and only as much good can come to us as we mentally receive.
We must increase our receptivity, continuosly extend and expand
our comprehension. We should declare a hundred times a day:
Good and more Good is mine. An ever-increasing Good is mine.
There is no limit to the Good which is mine. Everywhere I go
I see this Good, I feel it, I experience It. It crowds itself
against me, flows through me, expresses Itself in me, and multiplies
Itself around me.
TREATMENT:
Without receptivity, there can be no expansion
of consciousness. Without vision,
there can be no greater idea. I let the process of growth and transformation
happen
in me that I may be renewed. My consciousness is now completely reflective of
the
the intelligent and creative power of Life that is the ultimate, infinite
vision, and I am One with this Life!
Today I expand my consciousness of what is possible in my life, stretching
the edges
of what I think is possible for me in terms of love, joy, or success. I let my
imagination
run wild, without inhibition or holding back, and say yes to the wonderful ideas
that
Spirit unleashes in me. I know that even though big ideals can seem overwhelming,
there's always a Presence walking along with me that knows how to translate those
big ideals into a bigger reality...one in which I can live and breathe and celebrate.
Whatever the limits are that I've placed on my life, they are totally and absolutely
dissolved by means of this prayer. And I give thanks for my infinite freedom
to
create whatever I can imagine, embrace, and embody! And so it is.

- Readers' Questions
When
the body gets sick, do you just treat it by human means or
do you believe in bringing energetic practices and tools to
that situation?
If you were a carpenter, would you choose hammers and screwdrivers
and decide you wouldn't want to own a saw? No, you would want
a full complement of tools so that you could shape wood to
any and every purpose. In the same way, you cannot separate
the needs of the physical body from the needs of its energetic
field.
The energetic field, the holographic structure of the body,
is what animates the physical core. Remember, the electromagnetic
system controls to all physical form and function are located
in the auric field! Indeed, the cellular blueprint (the master
controls, if you will) is the in this same field. To use only
tools from the material plane (3D) would simply not address
the source of the damage. All physical illness, except for
injury from outside the body, comes from auric damage.
Energetic tolls alone are appropriate if the body has no physical
symptomology. But in order to make that person physically comfortable
once bodily symptoms have manifested, I would say, use all
the tools! Get that body comfortable and balanced; get the
shock, the trauma, the infection, the broken bones treated.
Our scientific knowledge is still at a level where we must "remove" bad
things, see? That is what is known, what works at our current
level of consciousness. All of it must be used to heal the
entire person: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. One
cannot separate any of it.
We are housed in an energetic vehicle that is multilayered.
And all the layers must be healed in order that the system be one of wholeness
and balance. As complex as the physical body is, how could its energetic carriage
be any less complex, any less incredibly intricate? So by all means, I believe
that the Divine Paradigm of Life calls us to reach beyond our physical limits
and to use all the tools we have been given! Visible and invisible, third dimensional
and energetic, scientific and spiritual, knowledge and faith -- they all have
relevance when advancing towards Radiant Health.

TREATMENT:
There is but One Great Physician that reaches out and
attends to all with the utmost grace. An imbued innate
intelligence that only knows wholeness, balance, and
vitality. This Master Council of Health courses through
my entire Being; a natural state of what I AM.
Today I incorporate a healing path that is foundationed
in faith. A trust that within the hushed tones of my physical
universe there is an intelligence that knows how to release my
labeled prognosis. It is processing right now and contributing
to my healing journey. My genetic material contains wondrous
emanations of Love that spill forth into all layers of my Being and
I become the living proof that health is not a potential -- it is
already done!
The wisdom contained within the cells of the physical body
command my gratitude. The "matter" at hand has always been
Divinely supported and maintained. What a simple joy to live.

- Life As Prayer
To
say ‘I believe in praying’ sounds as absurd as
to say ‘I believe in thinking.’

Beyond our sacred moments of silence, chanting and ritual;
of formula, form, recitation and prose, Life itself beckons
to be lived as prayer. Thoughts thought and words spoken echo
into action. We are the result of prayer – God’s
prayer, God’s thought manifest into form. As we
deepen our understanding that all is One and consciously live
in that awareness, we begin to sense the sanctity of the “commonplace,” the “mundane” and
treasure our daily inaction, action and interaction as a holy
communion. Everything is sacred - bill paying, lovemaking,
rush hour driving, cell phone talking, grocery store shopping. To
Ernest Holmes, prayer was a “recognition of Spirit’s
Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence and a realization
of humanity’s unity with Spirit….” (The Science
of Mind)
Life as prayer is living in the awareness of God-atmosphere! We
can no longer walk past the homeless person and feel disconnected. We
are that person. God is that person. “Them” disappears
and “us” prevails when life is lived as prayer. “What
I desire” yields to “what works for everyone.”
Life as prayer causes us to become uncomfortable with and unaccustomed
to the AIDS epidemic and the breast cancer crisis. Life
as prayer speaks for peace when support of international violence
is being hailed as patriotic. Life as prayer delights in the
inconvenience of honoring a picket line. Life as prayer moves
us to shop compassionately because we know how and where we
spend our dollars can help or harm the universal sister-brotherhood. In
a prayerful life we take practical steps to reveal the beloved
community on earth. The bottom line is no longer about
money but about love, justice and liberation.
You are a prayer. Your life is a prayer. Today
may you realize many moments of prayer and may they merge together.

TREATMENT:
There is but One power in the universe, that power is Spirit, and that power
is right where I am. Being completely connected to this power, ready to draw
from it whatever it is that I need to live prayerfully and contently.
I open my mind right now to the kind of inner expansion that is needed to
fulfill my intention. Whatever it is that separates me from reverant expression
in all my daily activities, I offer it up to Spirit. I welcome the awareness
that my
life is a prayer. All that I endeavor to live is God's divine plan falling into
action
and because this is so the power of Love lawfully appears in all my experiences.
I know that the spiritual laws of the Universe support me unconditionally
as I go into a new level of understanding and harmony within myself. I

- Life is Designed to be Purposeful
Your
purpose was birthed long before your body was born.Your
soul didn't wake up one day and think, "I haven't
been
to Earth in a very long time, and a visit might be nice.
I'll need a body, a wardrobe and a toothbrush." Your
purpose is like a
map or almanac for your soul. It can be checked and cross-referenced against
other lifetimes to make certain that your
experience is going well. Another word for purpose is desire. Desire envisions
a journey of light, which gives birth to form.

TREATMENT:
There is only One, and that One is Spirit. It is present everywhere, all
at once, it's perfection fully formed in all of Its creation. It has the power
to create
anything
I can imagine, and this power to create works naturally and effortlessly by means
of spiritual laws. These laws are impersonal, immutable, unchangeable, and utterly
reliable. This One is also the infinite intelligence of Life, knowing how to
accomplish
whatever I give it to do, and to do it with elegance.
I was not created to suffer, to learn lessons, to improve myself, or to somehow
'get better'.
I was created by the Universe to create a life that contains...whatever
I choose. Because
the laws of the Universe operate upon what I truly believe, if I believe that
I must suffer
to experience a life of spiritual connection, I receive suffering in abundance.
If I believe that
I'm here to learn something I didn't pick up the first time around, life brings
me many learning
opportunities until I learn by choice or by force. In precisely the same manner,
if I believe that
I am here to give and receive love without limit, abundance without end, and
joy without
boundaries, that is what I receive.
I pay close attention to the subtleties of my mind and my heart. I notice when
I'm believing in less
than a perfect universe operating perfectly. I see clearly each instance in which
I act upon the belief
that Life is finite, lacking intelligence, or capricious...AND CHANGE MY MIND.
I do this by using my
innate and inherent spiritual power to guide my beliefs to the Truth. Anything
in me that is out of alignment
with the greater expression of Truth for me is now obliterated by means of this
treatment. I'm no longer
willing to live life halfway. I trust in the infinite promise of Spirit, that
I may have life and have it more
abundantly. I trust in the impersonal laws of Spirit, knowing that they work
for me as well as anyone, and
that they work perfectly, every time. I place my faith in the creator of all
Life, which obviously includes me,
knowing that this creator loves me without limit, and is always guiding me to
my greater experience.
I live this day knowing that I'm here to love, to give, and to celebrate! And
I do. And so it is.

- Spirit in the Home
AFFIRM:
Spirit is always at home.
Wherever I find myself, I know that I rest in the arms
of Spirit,
protected and comforted.
I look around my life and realize that the home in
which I live is also the dwelling place of Spirit, both
in form and formless.
I let order and the wholesome nature of Spirit become manifest
in my home, tending to its needs consciously and joyfully,
seeing it as a selfless service to the One Power.
I keep my home clean and inviting, creating a space in
which to celebrate my life and the lives of all I love.
I give thanks for the beautiful place in which I live, and
I continually move through my life in a state of gratitude
for all that Spirit gives to me all creation in its lavish opulent way.
It is good, and so it is.

- Healing at Once

p 191:"When the soul discerns that My Father and I
are One, the door to the kingdom of heaven within will
be opened. To be with God is to be in heaven, and this
is a privilege that any soul may enjoy now while yet in
a personal form.
To simply hope for health and freedom is to remain in our
present condition however adverse that condition may be.
But when we have faith in that power that can give us health
and freedom we enter into the very life of that power,
and we are healed at once. Faith moves on and on and enters
directly into the very condition that is desired; it never
ceases to press on until it is in the presence of that
which is wanted, and therefore we can never fail. Hope
stands on the outside; faith walks in; hope waits to be
guided' faith trusts its own light and proceeds; hope waits
for the right opportunity; faith creates it's own opportunity;
hope waits to see the solid rock appearing from out of
the seeming void; faith goes out upon the seeming void
and finds the solid rock; hope stands upon the earth eagerly
looking towards the heavens; faith mounts upon the wings
of spirit and ascends to the highest heavens".
TREATMENT:
Life is Infinite in its capacity to heal. This is no small
statement; it means that whatever
the dis-ease, wherever I am out of balance, whatever the situation I find myself
in,
Spirit knows how to heal it. I don't mean that Spirit can alleviate my symptoms
and
merely reduce my suffering; I mean that Spirit can restore me to absolute wholeness
in an instant. This is the truth, and this is possible.
Because it is done unto me as I believe, I begin my expanding my belief in the
possibility
of being totally healed, absolutely whole, on every level and in every area of
my life.
Whether it is what's called a life-threatening illness or a lackluster love life,
it can be healed.
It doesn't matter how long it's been the way that it is; Spirit knows no space
or time and is
never limited by it. I believe in the possibility of the power of spirit working
a total transformation
in me, and not only do I believe it, but I accept it now and always.
I was created to live a life that is powerful and empowered, a life of wholeness
and joy, and I
claim that life as my own. The Spirit within me does the work, and I celebrate
my wholeness
this very day! And so it is.

- Readers Questions
What
is the most useful knowledge regarding the subject of manifesting
you can share with us? I have read and learned alot over
the years that but have had only moderate success in most
areas. Could you offer any guidance, information or specific
practices that might be useful?
How one regards manifesting is in many ways similar
to how one regards life. Humans tend to define life by
their response to it rather than by their experience of
it. For instance, if you knew how truly precious each moment
of experience is, you would hold experience in high
regard. A moment is an individual and unique unit of consciousness;
it is not an aspect of time, as many believe, although
it can be measured by time if one so chooses. An infinite
number of realities exists between each thought and each
moment of experience, and it is these realities that influence
how you create, manifest or respond to life. All the choices
you make, as well as those you do not make, are recorded
within you cellular memory. The fact that you did not make
a certain choice does not negate that the choice existed
-- do you see? For the purpose of this discussion, it will
be more useful to refer to the experience of manifesting
rather than the end result -- the thing or event you desire
to manifest -- because, for the most part, experience is
all that you can manifest.
True manifesting, also known as the creative principle,
begins with the desire that exists before physical wanting
or yearning is born. It begins
with the eternal self that sees through the eyes rather than with the eyes. This
permanent self will continue to be present before, beyond, and after all of the "I's" that
exist within you now. Your true Self already understands all of the principles
of manifestation, and when your personality and your True Self are aligned, manifesting
takes place with grace and ease. When these two are not aligned, you wonder why
manifesting is not working or why it works for others and not for you.
True manifesting takes place within the paradigm of pure creativity,
which is the contemplation and reflection of consciousness. If you want a
first step -- it is clarity. What do you want? What is the highest good? Be specific.
You have the power to create all things! It is what you were designed to do,
but after you get clear then you need to go within and merge with the Intelligence
and Awareness that is your inner centeredness.
TREATMENT:
There is but One source of all life, and that Source is God. I know that
this omnipresent Spirit of Life is always with me. Because it is infinite,
it is everywhere. It is the source of all, the creator and sustainer of all,
the Beloved Presence within all. It is my creator, and I am made in its
nature.
This means that all the wisdom and intelligence of Spirit is within me, to
call upon whenever I choose. The creative essence that is Spirit is within
me, ready to be called into action. The power and ability to accomplish all
things flows through me, a direct legacy from Spirit. The love of Spirit is
in me, flows through me, manifests in my thought, word, and deed.
Today, I give thanks for my eternally present Creator, the Father and Mother
of All, inspiring my heart and informing my choices. This Creator expresses
through me with grace and with joy, bringing more good, more compassion,
more abundant living, and more industrious activity into manifestation. I
give thanks for the everpresence of the Creator in me, and let this word
guide me today. And so it is.

as we see
that what we are looking FOR, we are looking WITH, and looking AT.

What Are You Looking With?
What are you looking with and what do you see? Are you looking at life
with the eyes of your parents; with the eyes of your spouse; with the eyes of
your employer or with the eyes of your past? What do you see? Ernest
Holmes states that what we are looking for, we are looking with, and looking
at. If you want to see a different result in your life, change your perspective.
Perhaps you see lack and limitation in your life. Look at your life through
the eyes of God. See your divine inheritance. Recognize that it is
God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Accept that in God all
things are possible. Give thanks for the miracles of Good revealed in every moment
of your life.
Perhaps you judge yourself as less than. Look at yourself through the eyes
of God. See yourself as a child of the Universe. You are perfectly perfect. You
are wholly whole. See yourself living in the heart of God. Embrace yourself
with tenderness and mercy. Recognize your divinity. Become empowered.
Perhaps you doubt your life’s purpose. Look at the invisible through
the eyes of God. Discover the divine order back of every activity you engage
in, every person you encounter, and every place you inhabit. You are living
in the abode of the most high. You are in time and on time. You are
one with the vision of your life.
Perhaps you see yourself as separate from others. Look at others through the
eyes of God. Love your neighbor as yourself. See yourself clearly. Let
go of the impediments that mar your perception. Place your gaze upon the
eternal verities emerging out of every area of your life. Live from that
purview.
As you see yourself as God sees you, what you are looking with is the truth of
your being.

I open myself today to the power of Spirit, knowing that it is the only
power, the Creative Power, and the sustaining power of the Universe.
It is the power that maintains and sustains me. And its nature is
ever-present. It is right where I am, in me, around me, in all things,

I know that by choosing to see this beloved Presence in all things, it
becomes manifest, bringing with it all of itself into form. It reveals
itself as ease, as perfect health, as joy, as love, as abundant support,
and as perfect harmony. I choose to see everything and everyone as
points of expression within this Presence...and that includes myself.
Anything that it's time to release, I'm totally willing to release. I
let go of anything in my experience that impedes this way of seeing
my Divinity from within. I open my heart to be healed by this Presence,
and I open my life to be transformed by it. I see the divine in me; and what

contemplate, I realize that I already AM.

- Readers Questions
Are
the Soul and the Higher Self the same? What is the difference?
There are many divine ideas and concept on our planet and
many names for the same thing. This might be one of them,
but from my standpoint, they are different. Science of
Mind offers the idea that God is all there is. As such,
the soul and the higher self are simply pieces of the One.
Not one greater than the other, both parts that reside
within you that are part of the universal plan. In my quest
for clarity between these two I have researched the writings
of many New Thought pioneers and offer you the following
that seems to be the consensus.
The soul is often seen as the overview of all that you
are.
It includes all the "selves" that you have, including the ones that
are not in 3D. Therefore, it's a name that would indicate a divine Wholeness,
and it is often meant to reflect the entire system of you. This would include
the I AM presence you have in the universe. The Higher Self is a name that is
given to the part of you directly involved in communication with God and the
part of you that knows its connection to the One. Therefore, you might say it
describes a part, an aspect, of you. So the difference between them is that one
describes the whole while the other describes a part.

- My Life Happens Within Spirit
TREATMENT:
There is only One life, that life is the life of Spirit,
and my life happens within it.
I am always in the most sacred place there is, always at the center of spiritual
Power and Presence. This is true for me and it's true for everyone, all the time.
Because Spirit is Infinite, everywhere is the center. Because it is all powerful,
wherever I am, all power is. I stop waiting for things to be easier or time to
move
more slowly to do the inner work that calls to me; I begin now, letting the Intelligence
and Wisdom of Spirit guide me. I forgive what needs to be forgiven without delay.
I
let go of my past, welcome the future, and embrace the present. I get my actions
into
alignment with what I know to be the right and appropriate path for me. I stand
in my
integrity and get busy!
And the results of this inner and outer work is a life filled to overflowing
with blessings
of every kind imaginable. There's nothing that can stop the process of my spiritual
evolution but my own dragging feet. I gladly do the work that's mine to do, and
I do it
knowing that it only leads me to absolute, abundant, eternal joy. And so it is.

Faith defined as an acceptance of certain religious doctrines is an essential
element in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In Hinduism and Buddhism, it is
an attitude of devotion that opens a gateway to spiritual practice.
In the broad scope of the spiritual life, we see faith not as something you have
but as something you are in — a relationship. It involves an awareness
of and an attunement to God's presence in our everyday experiences.
Practicing faith, then, is like developing any relationship. You have to give
it time and attention. It requires you to see, hear, feel, and constantly remember
your partner — God. Have confidence in the relationship's viability, even
when you are facing mysteries, doubts, and paradoxes. Trust in this faith and
from here on out, you just do all that you can, with what you've got, from where
you are. The next thing you know, this relationship will weave miracle upon miracle
together, evaporating your Neanderthal beliefs, trumping past them with your
manifestations!
Way to go, faithful warriors of Spirit!

I stand in the middle of an Infinite Universe of potential and possibility;
nothing can get in the way of this universal Presence and Power, for it is
the cause and the Source of all things. It created me out of itself that I may
create a life of joy, beauty, abundance, vitality, and creativity, and I now

a clear and unshakable intention to let that life be manifest now in every way.
Truly, the only thing between my experience today and the greater experience
of the possible is faith. I open to Spirit, knowing that now my consciousness
includes a bigger idea of what I deserve, embraces a deeper understanding of

in
the world.
I'm not moved by the appearances around me, by how things look. Because
I am not moved by appearances, appearances are free to move...revealing the

- Take the Time
If
there is physical, mental, or financial darkness, be assured
the presence of God dispels it.

Our training to depend on the five senses and intellectual
faculties has diminished the perception of our True
nature. The walls of intellect within our mind can serve
to mislead us, keep us in bondage, and perpetuate the same
messages we have tried so hard to out-grow. I am often
reminded that it takes real dedication to spiritual
practice to have an actual experience of God. thinking
of yourself as Light is not the same as setting some time
aside to BE the light. Meeting your authentic Self takes
being still until something within indicates that God is
present. It is not an intellectual perception but
an actual feeling of the presence of God. And it
takes learning to open ourselves up to God without
desiring that a wish or chore of ours be done. It
takes a real communing in the depth of stillness, with
the intention that God's will and God's grace be performed
through us, seeking only further realization of the Presence.
Then we shall sense God as an extension of man. As
Thomas Troward indicated, the more we yield to
that heartfelt impartation of the presence of Go, the more
we can be in restful enthusiasm.....and the more pure joy
we can realize in the play of energy and light of human
experience.
This week ... today ... take the time to allow the radiant
light of God dispel that which blocks your view of the
expanded reality, of who and what you really are.

TREATMENT:
To know we have always dissolved back into a Oneness
is an encircling truth that warms the heart of the Soul. To
know that the extension of God that I AM lives its cosmic
truth as a sovereign security within the operations of my
daily activities is a blessing. I am, therefore, the first principle
and the universal condition of divine love in my world.
I cannot be diminished by anyone or anything. I am Infinite
Reality bound in form, inseparable and indivisible from the
eternal bliss of its primal works. In consciousness, I claim the
panorama of this hidden Godhead. Doubt and confusion
cannot touch me. I am firmly rooted in the belief that as God's
emissary here I possess the Self-Knower power of creator
consciousness. My body responds with visible, radiant, perfect
health. My mind responds with developments of joyful, creative,
and productive experiences. And my mystic wanton Soul soars
among the stars scattering the seed of her/his new found power.
Being in and of the Infinite Creative Consciousness I utilize the
hidden secret of its structure and dissolve any beliefs that I am
different in genius, species or essence from my Source. Because
of this Truth, I know my personalized life is a holy dwelling place
and the scene of spirit's emergence. I am grateful this is so now
and forever. And so it is. Amen.

- Questions From Our Readers
In
New Thought literature I have read about "right action." What
is meant by this?
In New Thought when you are clear as to the answer
to a situation, you treat (pray affirmatively) about
that, embracing the feeling of having it already in your
life. But when you don't have a clarity, or are willing to
not be too attached to the answer you do get, or believe
you may get -- treating for right action is a wise
path to take. It basically affirms, "this or something
better." Now that doesn't mean that you will
take potluck, or that God has something picked out for
you, because the God of our understanding in this teaching
is the Universal Creative Process itself, not a separate
being with its own agenda. Therefore, right action draws
its direction from your own soul-level choices.
It widens the field of available outcomes. Treating
for right action is especially useful in situations where
many people's choices overlap, such as family or the
workplace. The key to doing it effectively is to affirm
it in such a way as to calm your emotions and become
enthused about the outcome. Since you don't know exactly
what the outcome will be, try focusing on how you will
feel once there is one, when peace and clarity have replaced
chaos and confusion.
TREATMENT:
There is always an answer! Spirit, the Infinite Intelligence
of Life itself,
always knows the very best way to approach any difficulty,
and to overcome
any challenge. I know I can breathe easy, because this
Spirit is my
inspiration and my lifeblood. It's infinite, intelligent,
powerful, and it's
always at work for me.This day, I turn my attention towards
creating a new understanding of right action. Old ideas, outdated attitudes, old habits
of settling ...all
fall away in the blazing light of this newly understood truth: everything I
desire is one with Spirit. I don't have to prove this; I merely have to
realize
it. To know that out of infinite possibility right action is always
taken, resulting
in unending potential...and the power to allow this potential to unfold in my
experience.
I lift high my vision towards that which my Soul is longing to experience in
this life. The little distractions and the tasks of day to day living have no
power to sway my one-pointed focus on this one idea of right action.
Today I live knowing it all -- everything, works out the best for everyone
concerned. And today, I let the perfection of Spirit be totally revealed
in me,
in my life, in my words, in my thinking, and in all that I do.
I give thanks for this powerful experience of my own wholeness, and for this
powerful experience of wholeness, clarity, divine right action, and joy wherever
I look. And so it is.

"LIFE
IS NOT A JOURNEY TO THE GRAVE WITH THE INTENTION OF ARRIVING
SAFELY IN A PRETTY AND WELL PRESERVED BODY, BUT RATHER
TO SKID IN BROADSIDE, THOROUGHLY USED UP, TOTALLY WORN
OUT, AND LOUDLY PROCLAIMING, "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!!"
Last April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her show for Dr. Angelou's
74th birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. The response
was, "exciting." Dr. Angelou said, "I've learned that no matter
what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better
tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he or
she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas
tree lights."
" I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll
miss them when they're gone from your life. I've learned that making a living
is not
the same thing as making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a
second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's
mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I've learned
that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right
decision. I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've
learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a
warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have
a lot to learn. I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will
forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

TREATMENT:
I live in a universe that is by nature abundant; this universe is by
nature loving, and it is by its very nature whole. I choose today to
realize what's always been true: that I am One with this Universe, that
I always have been one with it, and that I have access to all its good,
whenever I open my mind to receive it.
Today I awaken to my noble self, realizing that I am a powerful center
of creative energy in this universe, a place where life is delighted to
flow and flow with ease. I stop playing small, and realize that I can
gift myself anything in the world, and I do it with joy and with the
knowing and believing that as imagination flows through me, I align
with creation, it's not of my own creation, but of Spirit. I receive each
gift, whatever its form, freely. Whether it is presents from my children, offering my best in my work, loving my partner with all of my heart, or
finding abundance, I do it with the full and complete understanding that
Spirit and I playfully conduct this action through me.
I relax in the knowing that everything is just fine, that the power of
Spirit is thought+full+ly flowing through me, that this universe is a
safe and wonderful place to be. And my life blossoms in joy. And so it is.

- Judgements of Others

that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding

There is a young man in my family who, for many years, has resented his
father. He likes to criticize him for not being able to make up his
mind about things. He talks about how his father always yelled at him when
he was a young boy growing up. He criticizes his father for his bad
habits of speech and attitudes. This young man never ceases his tirades
about the seeming injustices that his father was the cause of in his life.
Recently, when he was going on in his usual manner of criticism, I noticed that
he had the same gestures, the same facial expressions and the same irritating
habits that he complained his father had. He even started looking like his dad. The
evils he so much resented were home to roost on his own doorstep. As on the inside,
so it is on the outside.
This whole experience suggested a powerful point for my spiritual practice (life).
It affirmed my belief, once again, that we really see the world as we are,
not as it is. When I realize that I am holding people in bondage to whatever
belief that is binding them or me, it is time to make a shift and know that it
is simply a belief that makes me see them as being of ugly temperament.
This frees both them and me. I believe the ugliness is always an appearance
that has been within me all along, and it was brought to my attention by another
so we both could be freed from the lie that it is.
Let's make a pack to go of all judgment of others--
knowing that the truth of your being is the truth of their being.

TREATMENT:
There is but One life, and that life is the life of the One Great
Spirit, present in all things and all people. Not only is Spirit present
in all beings, it is present in its fullness. This means that wherever I
am, and whatever the conditions of my life at the present, I am
full-filled with Spirit. There's nothing outside of myself that I really
need; whatever I need is to be found within. I stop looking for
fulfillment from outside sources, and seek it in the one place it is to
be found: in my own heart and soul.
Every day, I open my consciousness to a more powerful, more joyous,
and more immediate experience of the good that Life offers. By doing the
work within me first, the outside stuff takes care of itself. I am ready
to let go of the old way of experiencing relationships, and open to new
paradigms with joy and with gratitude. I see the One Spirit in all beings,
and give thanks for this new and constructive ground on which I live. And
so it is.
